Very exciting news out of Jaffna: the Heart Treatment Complex at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital officially opened on February 9th, thanks to a collaborative effort between CIDA, IMHO, and UNDP. This was a long overdue, major improvement to cardiac care and treatment in the Northeast.

On January 12, 2010, the impoverished Caribbean nation of Haiti was devastated by a massive 7.0 earthquake, causing immense destruction and suffering. IMHO donated $5,000 to Partners in Health to help respond to this crisis as it continues to unfold and is currently collecting names and information of those who want to volunteer directly. IMHO supported the World Mental Health Day celebrations in Kalmunai on October 31, 2009, in which more than 500 patients and their family members participated. The celebrations consisted of morning programmes and afternoon lunch with refreshments.
