IMHO volunteers have been working over the past year in developing a clinical psychology program at Gondar University in Ethiopia and training much needed mental health workers. A report summarizing these efforts is now available.

IMHO is proud to announce our next major initiative for the 2011-2012 year--the establishment of a modern NICU at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital...help us to fund the first 2 phases of this important project today!

The faces above represent just a few of the more than 6 million people who live in the catchment area of the Gondar University Hospital in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia and stand to benefit from the development of a modern surgical textbook for Ethiopia.

IMHO wishes to congratulate the dedicated and pioneering staff of the Kalmunai Mental Health Unit on receiving the 2011 Award of Excellence in Leadership by the Asian Association of Psychiatric Associations 3rd World Congress in Melbourne, Australia.

One of the most acute needs in the resettled areas of Sri Lanka is that of rehabilitating the local educational infrastructure. IMHO has helped to supply students with notebooks, book bags, school supplies, and bicycles, as well as helping to fund after-school tuition centers.

Bringing sustainable electricity to garbage villages in Egypt may have once seemed like a far off prospect, but thanks to groups like A Remnant Remains and with a generous donation of $5,000 from IMHO, solar panels are now being installed.

With support from IMHO, 250 patients at the Kilinochchi Hospital will benefit from much needed eye surgery.

IMHO is thrilled to announce that Dr. T. Sathiyamoorthy, Medical Superintendent at the Vavuniya General Hospital, has been selected as the recipient for 2011 InterAction Humanitarian Award! He will be honored with this prestigious and well-deserved recognition this August in Washington, DC.
