The International Medical Health Organization (IMHO), in continuation of their efforts in addressing basic healthcare needs in Southeast Asian countries since its inception over five years ago has held its 1st Annual Golf Tournament 2008. The event took place on the 19th day of October 2008, at Mountain Branch Golf Courses, Fallston, MD. According to the President of IMHO, Dr. Raguraj Sinnarajah, such events are being planned for recurrence every year in the future with an encouraging response being shown at this event from members and sponsors. The IMHO has also revealed that this particular fundraiser was dedicated towards its first healthcare p
This proposed new project would be located in the village of Ponnekallu, part of the rural district of Guntur in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. With this new construction of a free primary healthcare center, the village's popluation of about 9,000 persons would benefit, in addition to those from surrounding villages, such as Ravela, Damarapalli, Bejathpuram, Garikapadu, Pamulapadu and Bandarupalli. All of these villages have neither a government nor a privately run permanent healthcare facility. The main goal of this project is to construct and maintain the primary healthcare facility in Ponnekallu village of Andhra Pradesh, with support of a migrant’s family from the beneficiary village and other generous donors. Like many other such facilities already implemented by IMHO, the primary focus of this healthcare center will be diagnosis and treatment of primary acute healthcare, and of providing proper medication and treatment for many lifestyle affected aliments such as diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol problems, etc. Additionally it will provide pediatric care and address the nutritional needs of pregnant women, for which this area is considered to be below the standards of the WHO in this region of Asia. What these villages all have in common is that the nearest major healthcare facilities are located only in the City of Guntur, which is about 25 miles away. The Government of Andra Pradesh is in the process of allotting the land for this valid project, and local villagers along with foreign residing families are also joining hands together for this to happen as soon as possible. |
