1. Is the IMHO a non-profit organization? Is my donation tax-deductible?

In the United States, IMHO is registered with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a 501c(3) non-profit organization. Any donation to IMHO is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. IMHO’s tax-ID number is 59-3779465.

IMHO is a registered not-for-profit organization in Canada. Its application for charitable status in Canada has been submitted and is currently pending. This means that Canadian businesses donating to IMHO can claim a tax deduction. Individuals can claim tax deductions once charitable status has been granted by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

2. Will I receive a receipt for my donation?

Yes, the IMHO Treasurer issues separate receipts in-person or via first class mail for all one-time donations. For monthly contributions, an annual tax receipt for cumulative annual donations is sent at the end of each fiscal year.

3. Can I earmark my donation for a certain project?

Yes, of course. While IMHO prefers unconditional donations for maximal flexibility in responding to immediate needs, any donations can be earmarked for a specific project, and the donor’s wish will be respected.

4. Can I donate medical supplies as an in-kind donation?

Yes, IMHO administers several projects that can make use of medical supplies, although it depends on the country, the project, and the circumstances governing the shipment of such supplies. 5. Will IMHO accept a matching gift from my company?

IMHO is happy to accept matching gifts from your company. Please obtain the appropriate form from your Human Resources Department for matching gifts, and mail it with your contribution to IMHO at:

6. How do I become a partner in IMHO’s monthly giving program?

Monthly gifts from our Partners provide IMHO with consistent financial support, which enables IMHO to undertake greater commitments in under-served communities. Our Partners guarantee us with continuous, predictable funding which enable us to concentrate attention and resources towards our projects on the ground.

There are two ways to become an IMHO Partner:

*Sign up online: Use your credit card to sign up online through our secure online Donation systems. We currently have accounts with Paypal and Google Checkout.

*Direct debit: To pay directly from your checking account, complete the PDF form on our Monthly Giving page and mail it to us with a voided check.

7. Can I donate in a currency other than US dollars?

Yes, our online Paypal donation system accepts currency in Canadian dollars, Euros, Great Britain pounds, Australian dollars, and other currencies from around the world. Please encourage your friends and family living in other countries to donate.

8. Should I use Paypal or Google Checkout for my online donations?

Google Checkout only processes donations from the United States and United Kingdom, and is currently available through the IMHO Youtube page. Paypal can be used to process all donations in currencies from around the world (see previous question above).

Paypal charges a processing fee of approximately 3% of the total credit card transaction, leaving 97% for IMHO. Google Checkout charges a comparable amount.

9. How do I become an active member with IMHO?

10. My child would like to get involved with IMHO. What can he/she do?

IMHO is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with small administrative tasks and other projects that do not require medical knowledge.

11. I would like to volunteer with IMHO overseas. How can I do this?

Currently, IMHO is not sending direct volunteers to work on its active projects.
