EffortsIMHO supported the establishment of a Diabetic Center at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital in Jaffna, Sri Lanka by donating funds to cover the building, and has continued to provide support for the operational costs of the center. Additionally, IMHO is funding 2 staff persons at the center and supports a community awareness program for diabetes, including the publishing of a book on diabetes. The idea is to raise awareness about the disease, what signs to look for, how to get treatment and care for those with the disease, and how to live a healthy life after diagnosis. Such community education programs are all too important. The organization is now looking at providing similar forms of support to the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital.
